Hello, my dear visitors :)

It's been quite a long time since I started distributing the movies via Torrent protocol... Probably many of visitors didn't like the idea and are not visiting the blog anymore, but in my humble opinion that was the only way to keep posting the movies in wake of closure and change of terms of main 1-click Webhosters I used to use, like previously very popular Rapidshare or Megaupload.

I know that blog is not very appealing in terms of graphics, layout and amount of materials that still need to be re-uploaded, but without a professional help from skilled webmasters and graphics and without a day changing to at least 48 hours, that is all I can do with current amount of time and resources to my availability.

However, I still keep on upgrading and adding to my old and classic movies collection, which in last month exceeded a terabyte of data with idea of adding more and more of them on more frequent basis. To allow me to do that, I'd like to ask you, my dear visitors to help me cover some of the costs of seedbox, where the files are placed and from where they can be obtained on 99.9% of time, even if no other seeders exists.

Monthly cost of running my current seedbox is around 26 $, which may not seem as a huge amount of money, but any help in this regard is highly appreciated. I can't offer too much for any of the donators, but idea I got is that for any donation received, the donator can ask for any of the movie from the site, even if not available at the time, to be re-uploaded in faster manner, or make a reasonable request of material that is not available on the site at all, but is not too rare or to obscure to be found over the internet, but on other occasion could probably never be posted here. I wont't be able to fulfill all the requests one could have or promise superb quality if no good source is existing, but I will try to do my best. And for first donator of 5 $ or more, I will send a DVD with his/her choice of any material currently on site, anywhere in the world. Of course 4.3 GB of DVD data is not much but usually enough for 2-3 movies in quite good quality, so it is here for grabs.

I dont intend to make money off any donations I might receive and all donated funds will be distributed solely for purpose of maintaing monthly costs of seedbox, for which necessary proof will be provided.


I would also like to ask any experienced webmasters and/or graphics that may visit the blog for help in maintaning site source, layout or even making a completely new site with same content, after unfortunate event of previously existing .info domain, which unfortunately went out of my control after not renewing it on time

Some news...

Hi guys

It is bad news and good news...

Bad news is that the situation among most popular 1-click hosters is still uncertain. After Filesonic and Fileserve accounts, now also Hotfile account of mine has been blocked and all files wiped out. Rapidshare, which now seems to be top choice of many people, reduces download speed of free users to average of 30 Kb/s, which is insane. There are some hosts that offer good speeds for free users, but not to popular or very strict when it comes to copyrights, so we still have to wait...

And good news is, as some of people asked for it, I will post a new movie soon as a Torrent file. My upload speed is slow and I can not seed it all the time, so cooperation of other seeders will be needed. I will check how it looks and what is the response and then re-consider future of Torrent files...

Recent filehosting issues and future of this site...

As most of you probably already know it, last week left us witnesses of one of the biggest 1-click filehosters turmoil in their history. Megaupload has been shut down, and two other major players, Filesonic and Fileserve, which unfortunately I have been using for last couple of months, essentially stopped their services, by not allowing sharing the files with anyone but original uploader and closing account due to copyright infrigements.

It lefts site's latest submissions virtually useless, as Filesonic main links are not working, additional Fileserve mirror files neither, with Hotfile links in place. In that situation none of these movies can be fully downloaded and only working sets are either Hotfile or Rapidshare links, where existing and not removed before.

As the situation is tense and future uncertain, for the time being, there will be no new submissions or any links replacements, until the dust settles and more light is shed on the whole situation. If situation gets cleared and filehosters get to the terms, I will make further decisions on future of this project, accordingly to the situation.

CRC errors on latest upgrades

For some strange reason all of recent upgrades got multiple CRC errors and therefore users are not able to extract fileses sucessfully.

I dont know what might be the reason, maybe RARing process while using Winrar or too fast speed while burning files to DVDs, but all of these latest upgraded files have been deleted and will be re-uploaded in near future.

I'd like to thank you all the users that reported errors and apologise for all inconvenience caused

1. As www.onlyoldmovies.info registration period and website hosting plan ends in less than 24 hours from the moment when this note is posted, info domain will not be available for next couple of weeks, until hosting is paid and re-registration of site by new registrar completes. I've asked for small donations to that cause, but no positive response was received, so until further notice externally hosted domain is unavailable, and the only active source for that time being is onlyoldmovies.blogspot.com

2. Because of that fact and lack of free time, posting of new movies and upgrades to previously posted flicks will be postponed until further notice. 3. There are also some major changes coming soon, but it will take several weeks until all the ideas are implemented. Until that time all the services will be available as of now.

1. Due to recent changes in RS premium packages and stopping points system I am thinking of switching to other host in a couple of weeks, probably just before end of August, when it is time to renew hosting plan and domain registration for .info site. Right now the new system is very inconvenient to use, and in the light of recent changes my premium account will expire in a couple of months and I do not intend to pay for it, when I was using it for free for more than 3 years. Also many people asked for some changes in file hosting, so now might be the good time for it. For that moment I got like 10 movies ready and uploaded to RS, so next 5-6 will be like "waiting for people nad RS response" time and eventual changes wouldnt be fast, but one day it may change

3. If you wanna uninterrupted services on both sites, please consider making small Paypal donation toward hosting plan renewal, I need little more than 70 $ to be on the safe side, and the time is middle August to finish. It would be nice if at least 3 people buy one of the software listed on the site, as that would help a lot. After almost 3 years and hundreds of hours spent on both sites your help is crucial


4. I also need some advice on protecting some of the links from being reported, I tried several services, but it doesnt work too well, and some little prank is doing quite good job on reporting the files, especially Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes, which prevents me from re-uploading and updating them now as the job is pointless. I know together we could figure out the good solution...Maybe someone has access to good fast FTP server, on which the files would be more safe?


5. As previously stated my online activity is very limited these days, so any links re-uploading, taking care of some little adjustments, responding to comments takes much more time than usual, as well as new movies being posted in a week intervals. And please remember, asking "What is the password?", "Help I cant extract the files, password is wrong" when over 500 people downloaded witout any problems doesnt help either...In my free time I will try to put all the questions and answers in one place on "FAQ/Help/Problem resolving" sub-site but when it is finally done, any of the questions or comments like that will be ignored


6. RS is changing its services for a 1000th time in last years and I dont like that, but for those of you that dont have premium accounts, I used accumulated points and made 5 premium accounts, before latest changes they would be regular 30 days account, now thing changed, so the time of account validity depends on amount of data downloaded and your choice of data packet used, but premium features are still there

To get one of these accounts, send me a screenshot of any of Google Ad-sense advertisements being clicked by you, your country of origin and name/nickname and then I will choose 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 11th mail sent to onlyoldmovies [at] hotmail.com after 7 PM Central European time, which is in little more than 3 and a half of hour from this post being published.

7. New movie will be posted tomorrow, one can't have enough of Erroll Flynn and his adventues, huh?

Onlyoldmovies bulletin no. 5

1. One of my users commented on my last Alfred Hitchcock Presents post, that RS links were deleted by me, not reported and deleted by RS itself...Well, that user doesnt understand what happens when files are reported: once reported and marked by RS and infriging copyrights, they are online for next 7 for possible "further investigation", but as I cant do anything to get them back, I prefer to delete them from my acount first, that way when you click on download link it may say that the files was deleted by original uploader, but why should I do that?

2. It's May now, the month that WWII ended, so it is time to post two WWII war movies, of which one will be Polish and the second German, first one tomorrow, next in about 6-8 days after that

3. What else to expect? Re-upload of all AHP files, some silent comedies from the best and nice adventure movies from director Rouben Mamoulian and some more of Marlon Brando at his best, but not faster than in early June.

Problems with download of some files

As many people on my blog and not only here reported, there are some problems while trying to download some of the files from RS servers, even if they are shown as completely OK

The error showed is like "you tried to visit rs391cg.rapidshare.com, which is not loading". I can't be sure, as RS support is not working on weekends, but the reason might be RS servers upgrade that was scheduled to take place in last days of Februrary, as per their news page.

I will try to find out exactly what is the problem if it persists until Monday, right now best we can do is try to download these files after waiting some time...it seems to be temporary so be patient

Plans for next months and whole year

1. Re-uploading of few missing movies, that should be done before end of January, took helluva of time, but finally I can see the finish

2. I will of course finish third season of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and start the fourth season, which unfortunately is not available on DVD, so some quite nice TV rips would do the thing

3. Better versions of already posted stuff will be added to site, right now, I got over 20 movies ready to upload, to replace some average quality 700 MB rips posted before, just best quality to be available, I know some were complaining that old, B&W movies don't require high quality, but I simply don't agree with these opinions, so whenever upgrade will be possible, it will be posted

4. Submissions will be made every 6-8 days, not so often, but I got some piece of personal life, so more frequent updates will not be possible, unless...

5. ...there will be someone to become my partner in posting their movies here, i am looking forward for some cooperation, on my terms, but position is open :)

6. More 1930 and 1920s stuff to be posted in incoming months, also some Italian/French stuff and film-noir in the queue

jDownloader tutorial made by me

OK guys, as using of jDownloader for many people seem to be endless confusion and they can`t get it started, I prepared my own tutorial, that should help all people, with free or premium access

For some strange reason thumbnails were not displayed correctly when I tried to upload them to external image hosters, so I had to put them on Blogger, they are not so clear, so you have to click on them to enlarge


A. Downloading and instalation:


1) Go to

http://jdownloader.org/download

Choose your language, your platform, and then download from one of hosts provided (on the thumbnail provided below, I chose Windows version for Windows, for some strange reason language on the screen is Spanish, but you just have to download the file)

2) Start download from host of your choice, when finished, unpack instalation file to directory of your choice

3) Create a shortcut on your desktop, as shown below in Image A, so you can find the application easily in the future.



4) When you start it up, pick the language you want as shown in Item 1, image B, and also download directory as shown in Item 2



5) Next you will be asked if you want to integrate jDownloader with your browser. Just select “Cancel” as shown in Image C.



6) You will now be asked if you want to install Click’n’Load. (Image D). Just select “Cancel”.


7) Sometimes there will be dialog boxes asking if you want to install updates (Image E), or saying that updates have been made (Image F). Just click “OK” for any of these dialog boxes which appear.




B. Using program to download from RS ( free and premium)


A. Free users


8) The main jDownloader interface opens up. From "Links" menu choose "Add links" and then "Add container" or simply Ctrl + O



9) Program will now check the link, just click on Linkgrabber Tab, when it is done and all links are working fine, click on "Continue" button. If option "Start after adding" is checked, download will start automatically


10. Most of the files on the blog are passworded, so you may want to add the password, just double click on container and add the password as shown below, dont forget to check "Extract" option, so program could extract the files automatically, without any human assistance


11. Now the program will download files one by one, with all waiting times between the files being processed automatically, files CRC checked etc. etc. If your provider enables it and you are advanced user, you can even reconnect your modem after each file, and skip waiting times in "Settings"=> "Modules" => "Advanced". I never tried that as I use premium, but it is another option, if you know how to do that, if you dont know, or can`t change your IP, you just download one file after another as usual


12. If everything is all right, after successful download, you will get your file in download directory


B. Premium users

1) Download and install as described below, before adding container file go to "Premium" and then "Premium Settings" as shown below. Enter you login data, and after checking them program will add premium accounts to its database. If you got more than 1 premium account, you can add all of them, and then switch between them as shown below


2) You can set Maximum Connections (Item 1) and Maximum Downloads (Item 2) values as well as throttle your download speed (in Kb/s, is set to 0 your download speed is unlimited, Item 3) if you want use your browser at the same time, all these settings in right down corner of the program window (feel free to set them to your connection and convenience, but from other users experience I may tell you that setting maximum simultaneous connections to more than 5-6 sometime may lead to RS blocking access for excessive use, 5-6 is just OK, setting to higher values will not help you in any way)



That should be all, you can of course switch on/off link grabber in settings, use it for usual set of links, just copy it, and link grabber will do its work as described above, you can set your preffered language and many, many other options for your convenience

I hope that tutorial will help all the people that can`t make jDownloader work... Feel free to ask questions in comments

Some small issues

Hello everyone...

First of all, could you please let me know if the password for my last submission of "Love affair" is OK? It was an old upload and I wasnt sure, I tried to download first file and extact, using www.onlyoldmovies.blogspot.com and everything went fine, but I got some reports that the pass is www.onlyoldmovies.info... Little strange...

Second thing...I know a lot of people dont like all these recent changes, switching to jDownloader, but as I can see from number of downloads...the number is very, very low now...sometimes DLC file is downloaded e.g 30 times but actual files downloads is 5-8...is the latest content not interested or something else?

Re-uploads...some of the files were gone, some are still to be re-uploaded, replaced, but...as I can the interest is rather poor lately, as for all files, but here even worse, lot of people were whinning: "re-upload this", "Dead links, please add new ones" etc. etc. but when the files are finally back online, no one downloads them, so what is the points of re-uploading beside my joy of all the content being online? I spent countless hours, I think couple of hundreds this year only to get what is it now, but sometimes I am embarassed of all effects of this...

I decided to give it another go and ...

I will publish at least 2 new movies during next 7 days, but all archive contents will be deleted from site and must be re-uploaded, which I am doing right now, so you will have to wait patiently for a couple of weeks until all of them are ready...

Next movies I will publish will go deep into 1930s, some even closer to 1930 than 1940...

And maybe some of next film noir, I dont know for that moment...but I promised you more 1930s stuff and gonna keep that promise

3 more things:

1. No more mirrors available from that time...
2. Please dont ask me to upload to mediafire, megaupload, ABChosting.com etc. etc. your requests will be ignored, sorry
3. All links will be decrypted from that moment on, so no one could report them, you will have to use jDownloader or Cryptload, to download the stuff

Not-so-good news

Hi

Not so good news to announce... something happened to my RS accounts tomorrow, when logging into them, it says, that "Your account have not been found"

I dont know, maybe that has something in common in Rapidshare recent actions to prevent users from using the accounts from multiple IPs, but in recent weeks all these accounts were used only by me...

And the worst thing is that I dont have access to all my uploaded files anymore... almost 30 non-published movies are stuck somewhere there on RS servers, and there is no way to get to them until RS makes a move...


I suppose that all these accounts are gone now, with over 100 000 premium points accumulated on them, but the funniest thing is that all the fles published alrady, are still online and fine


So that may put a sad end to my blog, as in case of re-uploading all this stuff again, it is almost impossible task :(:(:(


Anyone had any idea what could happen here?

EDIT: I already mailed them, but "due to the large amount of support requests, your answer will unfortunately be delayed.:

And unfortunately, this lock feature has nothing to do with this, it doesnt prevent anyone from logging into account, just from taking any actions like deleting files or redeeming premium points for new accounts
